The Independent newspaper has really bucked a trend in praising property in North Cyprus for being good value and for increasing in value when other markets around the world are suffering.
And if that’s not good enough news for you, what about the fact that Joe Calzaghe the Welsh boxing hero has also bought a house on the island…not only is property in North Cyprus becoming famous for positive reasons, it is receiving positive promotion thanks to the famous people who are buying real estate in TRNC.
A recent report in The Independent newspaper by their international real estate journalist Laura Latham highlights the very real appeal that exists in the North for property. The report clearly differentiates between homes on the North and south of the island too – so the journalist really does know her stuff. She mentions the fact that last year homes in the south also enjoyed a period of positive growth and that in the North capital appreciation is now reaching between 15 and 20% annually.
The increased tourism and improvements in infrastructure in North Cyprus have also not gone unnoticed and are cited by the journalist as reasons for considering the island’s Northern third for long-term property investment potential. The report in The Independent goes on to briefly touch upon the ongoing stalemate in a search for a resolution to the Cyprus problem, but astutely points out that which we owners of homes in North Cyprus already know…when (not if) the solution is reached, the prices for properties in the North will skyrocket!
It’s lovely to finally receive international recognition in a paper as well regarded as The Independent! And it’s also lovely for the island’s property market to receive recognition from the likes of celebrity boxer Joe Calzaghe who has bought a home in The Colony development according to a recent press release issued by the developers behind the resort. So, all in all positive times for the property market in Northern Cyprus – and about time too we say!
