A brand new organization called Kyrenia Mountain Trail Association has launched operations in Northern Cyprus ready for the autumn season when North Cyprus biking and hiking tours will get underway on the 220 km long Bespamark and Kyrenia mountain chain.
This is the mountain chain that dominates the landscape in stunning Northern Cyprus and which spans the entire north coastline from east to west – and for the first time ever the Kyrenia Mountain Trail Association is organizing specialist biking and hiking tours and holidays which will be a welcome and unique boost to the tourism market in North Cyprus.
As stated the 220 km long Bespamark and Kyrenia mountain chain spans from the east to the west of the Northern third of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus – the chain begins at the Zafer Cape on the easternmost tip of the island near to Kantara Castle and reaches across to Cape Korucam on the westernmost edge – and all along the range there are exceptional views, stunning craggy castles, hidden monasteries and churches, ancient relics and sites of interest, amazing precipices, beautiful natural scenery and some exciting hiking and biking challenges to be had as well.
Kyrenia Mountain Trail Association is a non-profit making organization that is made up of international individuals, local companies, the North Cyprus Tourism Ministry and various hotel associations as well. They have joined forces to promote the delights of this unique natural attribute that is the crowning glory of North Cyprus.
So far the Association has managed to map out the entire trail, they have on offer accommodation options for hikers, bikers, back packers and all those who want to spend all or some of their holiday time in Northern Cyprus exploring the beautiful mountains. The organization has significant plans for organized hiking, biking and even horse riding holidays and tours of the mountains and of other walks in North Cyprus, and will continue to develop and promote their vision internationally.
In the spring it is expected that the take up of trails and the request for maps, brochures, GPS coordinates and directions will be intense because spring in Cyprus is wild flower and wild orchid season. So where better to hunt for the rarest of orchid species than in the Bespamark and Kyrenia mountains?
