New Night Life in North Cyprus

The start of the holiday season always breathes new life into the night life scene in North Cyprus with the invention and creation of bright new venues and the renovation and rebirth of some of the old favourites.

This year was absolutely no exception and we’ve taken a break from sampling what’s on offer to bring you an update! We welcome Cherinis Gardens Bar and Cafe and a new look, new feel, new vibe C’est la Vie.

Cherinis Gardens is located near the ticket office for Kyrenia castle...just walk in a straight line down past Turk Bankasi and St. Andrew’s Church, keep heading down the hill towards the ticket office and there’s Cherinis Restaurant on your left which boasts the finest views of the harbour and sunsets and then Cherinis Gardens Bar and Cafe on the right.

The location couldn’t be more perfect, it is best placed to catch the finest views of the castle - especially at night when the magnificent fortress is lit up and towers above the harbour area impressively and majestically.

Cherinis Gardens is an open air venue and the managers, Scott and Vikki, hope that the venue proves mega popular so that in the winter they can take over the restaurant area as well and keep their clientele warm and dry in the short winter months. At the moment the restaurant is not directly affiliated with Cherinis Gardens and this review only relates to the bar and cafe!

Best placed for a lunch time snack for those hungry shoppers or hot castle visitors, the cafe serves an excellent selection of snacks and sandwiches and ice cold soft drinks under the shade of the beautiful canopy from 10am. Come in, sit down in one of their mega comfortable chairs and relax with the unrivalled and magical views before you and be cooled by a refreshing breeze that lifts up from the Mediterranean and takes a little of the intense heat out of the day.

In the night time the tempo of the bar hots up, the music starts playing, the slightly less soft and more alcoholic type drinks starts flowing (!) and your hosts and their dedicated team of staff keep you entertained, comfortable and very well looked after.

Regular readers might remember Scott - he and Daniel were our favourite and best estate agents in North Cyprus for a while until they both moved on to bigger and brighter ventures. Scott teamed up with best friend Vikki for the opening of this great new venue, Daniel’s become an Olive Tree Rescuer but more about him in a future article.

Next on our list of new night life venues in North Cyprus is actually an old favourite revamped and restyled...C’est la Vie (or maybe that should be Cellar V)? Located right opposite the Mosque behind the harbour area in a once dark, dingy and scary cellar is Shola’s great creation!

Shola has taken over the managerial role and turned this place around - and he’s only just started to get a feel for the venue and make his mark as well, so watch this space for further updates when he’s completed his long and impressive list of changes! The cellar bar only kicks off in the wee small hours though it’s open from 9pm seven nights a week, and when it gets going it is one of THE places to be seen in Northern Cyprus. The music’s hot, the regular DJ nights are hotter still and the ambience is totally chilled out!
