There are so many beautiful and unique hotels to choose from in North Cyprus because the big chain hotels like Marriot, Sheraton, Holiday Inn and Hilton have not established themselves here. This has resulted in independent minded hoteliers creating luxurious and totally individual resorts - the likes of which you will not find elsewhere in such abundance.
Furthermore, as North Cyprus lived through the concrete decades of the 70’s and 80’s with no major investment it has luckily missed out on the nasty high-rise faceless types of hotels so prevalent elsewhere around the Mediterranean region. This means that those seeking luxury hotels in Northern Cyprus will have plenty of choice.
For the purposes of this article it was necessary just to pick a handful of luxury hotels and resorts to give a taster of the facilities and accommodation available in Northern Cyprus. I’ve chosen to feature The Colony Hotel, The Rocks Hotel and The Dome Hotel in Kyrenia together with Jasmine Court and Merit Crystal Cove which are five star resorts slightly outside the main holiday town of Kyrenia. There are many more five star hotels to choose from across the island but these should give you an idea of what you can expect in terms of luxury hotels in Northern Cyprus.
The Colony Hotel.
The palatial and truly stunning Colony Hotel makes its visual mark on the town of Kyrenia immediately! It is located at the top of the high street and few visitors to the town can miss it! Its prime location makes it an excellent choice for those seeking access to the facilities and features of the beautiful harbour town of Kyrenia.
The Colony claims to be the only five star hotel in the town to achieve truly international standards...it is certainly one of the finest luxury hotels in the whole of Northern Cyprus incorporating the utmost in taste, class and sophistication. The public areas are sumptuously decorated, the bedrooms and suites afford residents the ultimate in luxury lifestyle. The hotel boasts a roof top swimming pool with unrivalled views of the Mediterranean, the town of Kyrenia and the Girne mountain range. The Colony Hotel is also home to a world class wellness and fitness centre, a spa, a first class casino, excellent conference facilities, restaurants, lounges, bars and cafes.
A true five star hotel with service levels exceeding expectation.
The Rocks Hotel
Located a stones throw away from the sea and in a quiet corner of the pretty harbour town of Kyrenia is the recently extended and completed Rocks Hotel. This luxury five star hotel has been finished with the utmost attention to detail, no expense spared, finest quality fixture, fittings and furnishings and is a welcome addition to the town. Residents and non-residents are free to take advantage of the first class restaurants and bars including La Habanera, the live music jazz bar. Here some of the finest jazz musicians from around the world are regularly invited to perform. The surroundings are pure class, the music is pure genius, the service is pure magnificence.
The hotel hosts meetings, banquets, weddings, conferences and the Kyrenia Jazz Festival and is as popular with its guests as it is with local people who are welcome to use the hotels public facilities such as its cafes and bars as mentioned.
The accommodation offered to guests is definitely five star, and The Rocks Hotel is also home to the beautiful Rocks pool area and Laguna Bar, the Rocks Casino - yet another classy establishment - together with Roxanne’s Bar and Grill - that completes the Rocks Hotel luxury line-up.
The Dome Hotel
A little further down the road from the Rocks towards the harbour in Kyrenia you will find the elegantly, recently refurbished Dome Hotel. Established some 70 years ago the hotel is perfectly positioned in the heart of the town and directly overlooking the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
If you want traditional style and sophistication coupled with up to date facilities and features then the Dome Hotel could be your choice of luxury hotel in Northern Cyprus. You will benefit from having the entire town of Kyrenia at your feet should you decide to take a stroll outside of the hotel grounds, alternatively you can sit and relax in the hotel’s tea rooms, pool bar, lounge, lounge bar or restaurant and soak up the relaxing atmosphere.
Jasmine Court
Just a kilometre away from the centre of Girne (Kyrenia) you will find one of the most extensively extravagant hotels in the Northern Cyprus, namely Jasmine Court. Established in 1990 and set in its own private grounds and boasting beautifully tended gardens, pools and scenery, the hotel offers the very finest in five star luxury.
The hotel’s setting is truly inspirational! Atop low level cliffs it affords its residents a private and memorably breathtaking view of the Mediterranean with the Turkish mainland visible on clear blue days. From sport and fitness activities to casinos and gaming, from kids clubs and events to traditional Cyprus nights and shopping facilities - you name it, Jasmine Court will provide it.
Merit Crystal Cove
And last but by no means least, The Merit Crystal Cove luxury five star resort...just 10km from Kyrenia and positioned on its own private bay, overlooking its own exclusive beach this magnificent resort offers its guests the ultimate in all inclusive luxury.
