Hotels in North Cyprus

With summer fast approaching and already the numbers of tourists visiting Northern Cyprus visibly on the increase, here’s a quick guide to some of the most popular hotels in North Cyprus on a town by town basis. The guide is here to help those hunting for accommodation to find the best options to suit both their requirements and their pockets.

Seeing as there are a whole host of hotels in North Cyprus for visitors to choose from - from the five star luxury of The Rocks in Kyrenia to the simple rustic charm of the Arch House in Dipkarpaz (pictured) - it’s important to get a feel for the quality and type of accommodation before booking.

Hotels in Kyrenia/Girne

There are two truly five star hotels in Kyrenia and they are The Rocks and The Colony. The Rocks is located very close to the harbour and is one of the newest hotels on the island. It features fantastic accommodation and has a gym, spa, pool and of course a casino as well as various bars and restaurants.

The Colony is along the same lines in terms of accommodation and facilities but it is located at the top of Kyrenia town within easy walking distance of the harbour and famous fortress.

Other popular options in Kyrenia are the Pia Bella and Oscars resorts which are both close to the new harbour. Club Z and Pitoresk are more affordable family favourites and Jasmine Court, Altinkaya and The Dome Hotel are all popular hotel complexes with great gardens, amenities and pools.

Hotels East of Kyrenia

To the east of Kyrenia are the popular villages of Karakum, Bellapais, Ozankoy, Catalkoy and Esentepe. There are so many hotels in Bellapais that we felt they deserved their very own article!

Alternatively visitors can chose from a range of holiday villages which are always affordable and popular especially with families – options include the High Life Holiday Village in Karakum, the Five Finger Holiday Village in Ozankoy, Fireman’s Fez in Catalkoy or the Alkan Holiday Village in Esentepe.

For families the Acapulco resort is also a firm favourite because of its huge range of swimming pools and facilities and its lovely clean sandy private beach.

Hotels West of Kyrenia

To the west of Kyrenia are the villages of Karaoglanoglu, Alsancak, Karmi, Lapta and Karsiyaka as well as the Escape and Legend beach clubs. In Karaoglanoglu there’s the Kings Court Hotel or the Pine Bay Holiday Village to choose from for example, in Alsancak visitors can choose to stay at the Santoria Holiday Village or the Mare Monte Hotel. Favourites in Karmi include the Hilarion Holiday Village and the Hideaway Club.

For those who prefer the beachfront locations of Lapta and the stunning views from Karsiyaka try the Simena Hotel or Jasmine Court.

Hotels in Famagusta and the Karpaz

The area around Famagusta and on up towards the panhandle and Karpaz (or Karpas) region of Northern Cyprus is growing in popularity with holiday makers because of the area’s stunning natural beauty and the charms of the old, quaint rustic villages and communities that are on the town’s doorstep.

Visitors who would like five star luxury can choose from either the Salamis Bay resort or Palm Beach Hotel both of which are close to Famagusta and Salamis. Other alternatives include the Park Hotel and Dee European Hotel. In Bogaz, which is a town between Famagusta and the Karpaz, visitors have the option of staying in the Bogaz Hotel the oddly named Exotic Hotel or the Theresa Hotel.

Along the Karpaz there are a few holiday villages such as the Arch House in Dipkarpaz or The Oasis; hotels in this part of Northern Cyprus tend to offer only very basic amenities and visitors are encouraged to bring their own entertainment.
